Great Falls Rugby - Programs and Age-Group Levels

Rugby Virginia was founded in 2008 and is organized under the authority of USA Rugby.

Rugby Virginia is the primary development vehicle for youth and high school rugby within the state of Virginia and is a USA Rugby Level 3 State Based Rugby Organization (SBRO).

Rugby Virginia is operated exclusively to promote and foster the growth of high school and youth rugby football and to educate the public and players in the game of rugby as played under the laws of the International Rugby Board.

Rugby Virginia is composed of high school rugby clubs and youth clubs within Virginia. Great Falls Rugby was created to fulfill a void in the Great Falls/Reston/Herndon area for youth rugby.

Please take a look at the Age Eligibility Chart. This shows the various age grades and age cut-offs. This year the cut-off date has been changed to 1 September for ALL AGE GROUPS, brought forward from 1 January for all age groups except High School. This give some kids born 1 Sept-31 Dec the chance to stay in the younger age group. Any questions on the chart, ask me..

Age Group: U7, U9, U11 Coed "Touch" (Non-Contact - year round)
Boys and girls rugby. Usually seven per team.

Age Group: U13, U15, U17, U19 Boys "Tackle" (Contact - year round boys and girls)
Spring Sessions MUST be 15-a-side. Both seasons are grouped by: HIGH SCHOOL (Grade 9&10, and 11&12) and Youth (U13/U15).
In the Summer & Fall the format is usually sevens-rugby.
