Year 2018: Great day of HS rugby scrimmage vs. Gonzaga

A crossover sporting opportunity for all football players, wrestlers and others

Rugby is one of the best crossover sports available, helping athletes develop skills that complement almost every other sport. Whether you play football, wrestling, lacrosse, hockey, soccer, basketball, baseball, track, or another sport, rugby will make you a stronger, smarter, and more complete athlete.

American football and rugby share many of the same athletic qualities—running, tackling, evasion, decision-making, teamwork, and controlled physical contact—which is why so many football players transition seamlessly into rugby during the off-season. Rugby develops heads-up tackling technique, spatial awareness, fitness, ball-handling skills, and the ability to make quick decisions under pressure.

SeahawksEven NFL coaches have recognized rugby's value. Former Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll famously encouraged his players to "tackle like a rugby player!" adopting rugby tackling techniques to improve player safety and effectiveness. Today, rugby-style tackling principles are widely taught throughout football, from youth programs to the professional ranks.

The benefits don't stop with football. Wrestlers bring toughness, balance, and body control. Lacrosse and hockey players thrive on the speed and physicality. Soccer players excel through endurance, footwork, and game awareness. No matter your primary sport, rugby develops confidence, leadership, communication, resilience, teamwork, and athleticism that transfer directly back to your game.

Most importantly, we're not looking to take athletes away from the sports they love. We simply want to borrow you during your off-season, give you a new challenge, help you develop as an athlete and teammate, and send you back fitter, stronger, more confident, and with improved athletic and tackling skills.

Play your sport. Then come play rugby.
